Phil joined the world of model yachting in the 1980s, initially as a hobby and soon after becoming his career. An engraver initially, Phil re-trained through the 1990s to become one of the world's leading model yachting master craftsman. 

Phil is considered to deliver the highest quality craftsmanship in the boats that he builds and those that he repairs, even if he didn't build the original yacht. 

He specialises in building international one metre (IOM) yachts, though has built boats across a full range of different classes over the years. He was himself the very first Great British national champion in the IOM class, and is the current Great British Veterans IOM class champion (2016, won with the Vision design). Not only does he know what works in the workshop, he also knows what works on the water so is expertly placed to advise on your boat build and configuration, to build your rig for you, and to repair your yacht when those unexpected incidents occur (we've all had them).
